About Us

 Bric-a-Brac is an idea that has grown with us, starting over 25 years ago with a desire to make our homes an organic extension of the outdoors.
 
The Bric-a-Brac brand is a kaleidoscope of the many fragments of our quotidian, taking equal inspiration from our lives at home, in nature, and the crafts of our community. You will discover beautiful products which remind you of rust coloured chestnuts and vibrant bee-eaters, of bamboo weavers from the East and sheesham craftsmen of the Northern plains. Each Bric-a-Brac creation combines beauty with functionality, giving shape to practical forms for the moments we share in our homes. 
 
Today, Bric-a-Brac runs a Studio Workshop in Manesar, Gurgaon, where it skills and employs a small team of craftsmen and women. The team annually exhibits at forums such as the Kala Ghoda Exhibition in Mumbai, India Story in Kolkata, and the Dastkar Design Mela in New Delhi. In recognition of our creativity, we were awarded the UNESCO Seal of Excellence in 2006, for our range of tableware that combined glazed terracotta with cane and wood. In the same year, our products were exhibited at the UNESCO stall at the Maison et Objet trade fair in Paris, France.
 
 
 
Neelum Saigal

Bric-a-Brac is led by Neelum Saigal, a self-declared accidental entrepreneur. Fuelled not by formal training in design or business, Neelum is driven by a deep appreciation and love for the local arts and handicrafts of India. Almost three decades ago, a friend nudged Neelum to channel her creativity and resourcefulness into a small venture, and Bric-a-Brac was born.

 

Neelum draws inspiration from diverse sources – her mother’s coffee mornings at her childhood home in Calcutta, where she learned the art and joy of hosting, the ancient and rich craft traditions of rural communities in India, and the delightful process of combining and reimagining different crafts – to create new, functional, and affordable homeware products for the contemporary home.

 

She creates products not only for special moments, but believes that each moment can be made special with attractive and adaptable products.
