Traditional bamboo mats, handwoven by the women of Midnapur (a bamboo cluster in Bengal), these are then converted into trays by Sheesham craftsmen in Amroha. The Pukur Salver is truly a unique integration of two crafts used to their best potential. All along the mats, a stunning pattern, fondly referred to as the Ghono Pukur by the artist, decorates the surface. This type of design is inspired from the deep rippling effect seen in a pond.
